Remain Adaptable

For much of October, I was constantly trying to figure out how to keep our proverbial train on its tracks. We started the month with a second half to the Pizza Theology series I told you all about last month. This time we focused a lot more on things like the election, immigration, and not falling into popular modern thought. Like last time I think our speakers did an incredible job, and it was a treat to get to be there running the stream behind the scenes. This experience would prove useful just two weeks later with another large streamed event, the Leadership Conference.

Every year, the family of churches in the DFW Metro Family of Churches teams up with FOCUS to put on a leadership conference. The goal of these is to train people in the bodies to be better leaders and to cover how to lead in difficult situations. In reflecting on the one from the year before, it is interesting to think about how the 2019 theme of Problem Solving is in part the reason we were even able to have a conference in 2020. This year we focused on creativity, and how to in a time of constantly thinking outside of the box, continuing to do so.

(My setup for running the Leadership Conference)

After the leadership conference, I began work on a couple of things. For one, I started work on the advertising materials we will be using for the upcoming Keep FOCUS Growing campaign. Every year on giving Tuesday, FOCUS has some very generous people who are willing to match funds for every donation we receive up to about $45000. Last year, with these funds, we were able to surpass $93000. This is huge for us as we look forward to the proposition of expanding to Terrant County Community Colleges and TCU. This could come closer to reality if this year is just as successful. We are projected to have close to $50,000 in matching funds this year, so it seems reasonable that with some help, we can reach $100,000 this year! I would ask you all to be in prayer about participating in this, it would be great to see our ministry continue to move throughout the metroplex and continue to serve people at these various campuses! Lastly, I will leave you with a testimony from one of our students at our SMU ministry named Ruth.
